Hey have you seen the new Venom trailer? What do you notice about it? No, not the slightly clunky dialogue or the Peter Parker-sized elephant in the room. Have a listen to the music.
Does it sound... familiar? Kinda like... the music from the second Avengers: Infinity War trailer, right?
In fact, as far as we can tell it is exactly the same tune. It's a track called Redshift by Audiomachine. It sure is some dramatic music - perfect for these sorts of trailer.
So you're probably wondering: What's behind this? Is it a desperate attempt by Sony to fool audiences into thinking that it's ersatz Marvel film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Is it a secret hint that after all of the speculation that Venom will in fact be considered a part of the MCU canon?
Sadly, it isn't quite as exciting: The reason is that Audiomachine isn't actually a band, it's a production company that specialises in producing music for adverts and trailers. The company's whole thing is basically producing albums of some generic trailer music, which movie studios can then license and use in their own trailers. And the company's music is widespread, having been previously used in trailers for everything from Harry Potter, to Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Transformers, and dozens of superhero films.
So our guess then is that it is basically all one massive cosmic coincidence. But still - pretty weird once you notice, right? [As spotted by Reddit.]
