Whenever there's an excuse for companies to peddle extra stuff you didn't think you wanted, they will. Whether it's Star Wars day, Valentine's Day, or because a member of the Royal Family is getting married. That's exactly what Sky is doing anyway, trying to flog subscriptions to Sky Q using the Royal Wedding as an excuse.
Since it's the only broadcaster that'll be filming the wedding in 4K, Sky is using this to its advantage with a selection of offers for both new and existing customers. The first being that it's going to offer a new 43-inch UHD LG TV with HDR for more than half the normal cost. Sky hasn't been totally forthcoming with the model name, but it does specify its the 43UK6300PLB in the terms and conditions. The RRP is £599 but anyone taking advantage of the offers will only have to pay £250 if they join Sky Q or upgrade their existing Sky package.
On top of that the 2TB Sky Q box will be available with £50 off the set-up fee (£20 instead of £70), though like the TV it's dependent on paying £32 a month for a Sky Q package. Considering Sky Q is normally £44 a month, that's not too bad - even of it is considerably more expensive than streaming-only services.
The offer is available from now until 31st May, and you can sign up (or look at the finer details) here.
