Samsung Basically Just Confirmed the Galaxy Note 9 Will Launch on 9th August

By Tom Pritchard on at

A few weeks ago a report claimed that Samsung had decided it was going to launch the Galaxy Note 9 on 9th August this year - a full two weeks earlier than the date it announced the Note 8 last year. Today Samsung has started sending out invites a Galaxy Unpacked event, which is also taking place on 9th August. Hmmm, what could that possibly be about?

Well we all know. Galaxy Unpacked events are reserved for the top tier Galaxy smartphones, because the cheaper less-flashy phones aren't given the same levels of praise. The invite doesn't contain any clues as to what Samsung has planned, though the phone itself is in a very yellowy colour. Maybe it's a new shade of gold? In any case the amount of leaks we've seen means very little isn't known already, meaning the event is mainly just for show.

The event is being held in New York, and starts at 10am local time, which is 4pm here in the UK. Naturally, as ever, it's going to be livestreamed and we'll have all the information as soon as Samsung lets us have it.
