Ed Sheeran is about to make a proper move into ack-ting after his one-off cameo in Game of Thrones, with the popular* singer taking on a larger role in a future production by short-lived Bond director and honorary 2012 Olympian Danny Boyle.
It shouldn't test Sheeran's acting abilities too much, though, as Sheeran says he's been handed a pretty easy role to portray: himself. He's going to be music's Ed Sheeran in a film loosely based around the Beatles that's been written by romcom dirge-king Richard Curtis, in which Ed hooks up with an unknown singer-songwriter played by Himesh Patel who, it turns out, is the only person in the world who remembers the Beatles.
It'll probably all be fine despite what it sounds like and Ed Sheeran being in it, as Danny Boyle films usually turn out OK, with Sheeran explaining: "They shot it around loads of my gigs. So it was a very intense two months, because I would have four days of gigging and then three days of shooting a film. I was playing myself, so I don't think I was that bad." [Sky News]
