Samsung's Galaxy Watch Announcement is Imminent, but it's Already Been Spotted in the Real World

By Tom Pritchard on at

For a while we've been hearing about Samsung's next entry in the smartwatch business, which we already know is going to be called the Galaxy Watch rather than the Gear S4. Leaks haven't been as common as they have for the Note 9 (also due within the next hour or so), but now it seems they're already out in the real world.

Case in point: our friends over at TechRadar just spotted someone rocking what seems to be the Galaxy Watch at the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York. Well if it was going to show up anywhere, that would be the place.

As you can see it's pretty similar to the watch we first saw in a premature listing on Samsung's own website last month. The lighting is a bit off, but apparently this is a gold version of the smartwatch, ie the one that has been rumoured but didn't actually show up in the listing leak. Since Samsung hasn't produced a gold smartwatch before, it further suggests this is something new.

The person rocking the watch was also standing next to a Samsung employee, which TechRadar speculates as meaning they're going to be modelling the watch for people at the event.

Thankfully we really don't have very long to wait and see if this is the real deal. The Galaxy Unpacked event is set to begin at 4pm this afternoon, and you can tune in right here. [TechRadar]
