Samsung Teases a Four-Lens Camera With '4x Fun' Event

Today, Samsung has released an invitation for an event that's taking place on 11th October. The invitations are pretty sparse on detail. With a bold '4x fun' header, the invite confirms the invitation is for the launch event of the next Galaxy device.

"Samsung’s newest Galaxy device is bringing more ways to express yourself than ever before.

Capture the fun with Samsung as the company celebrates the launch of the new device."

It seems pretty likely that this refers to the next Samsung mobile phone having four camera lenses. There's been other rumours and speculation to support this, such as notable Samsung leaker @UniverseIce tweeting "Samsung Camera Camera Camera Camera" earlier this month. When someone asked "both front and back", @UniversalIce responded with "all back".

They followed up earlier today by retweeting another tweet saying there will be four-camera phones later this year, originally tweeted in July, with the addition of "Now, do you know?". The first response to that tweet is someone sharing Samsung's '4x fun' invitation.

The word "capture" in the invite also suggests it's camera related. So Samsung's next phone – presumably called the Galaxy S10 – may well have four camera lenses on the back of it. Exactly what each of them will do remains to be seen. Of course, '4x fun' could turn out not to have anything to do with cameras and could refer to... I don't know, the number of colours that the Galaxy S10 is available in. But it seems pretty likely it'll be camera-related.

We'll find out for sure on 11th October. when the event is streamed on Samsung's website. [engadget]
