YouPorn is Using Machine Learning to Offer Weekly Personalised Porn Playlists

There is a lot of porn. Too much porn really, and more of it is being produced all the time. Nobody has enough time to sift through it all to find the good stuff, let alone watch everything they want to watch. So what do you do to get past that problem? YouPorn's answer is using “industry-leading machine learning systems” to send users personalised playlists of porn each week.

YouPorn, which is part of the PornHub Network, is launching the new personalisation feature that it's called "For You Weekly". As the name suggests these are playlists of video content that change each week, basing new additions on a user's activity and porn preferences. It's based on the same sort of personalisation feature offered by media companies, and designed to cut down users' need to go searching for porn themselves. After all if the likes of Spotify and YouTube can generate personalised playlists, why can't porn sites? I means you can spend more time seeing to the matter in hand. So to speak.

On top of this YouPorn is announcing something called Guest Playlists, which lets established stars/content creators share playlists with other users. So you can see what kind of porn they like. Or at least the kind of porn they think you want to think they like.

This isn't the first time porn sites have adopted AI into their work. PornHub and XHamster have been using machine learning to help identify porn stars in videos and point users towards other stuff they have done. Or stuff involving similar-looking actors, at the very least. There's even an American porn company that wants to use the AI-powered Deep Fakes to put people into the porn film of their choosing. Though most porn sites aren't too keen on that last lot, especially where celebrities are concerned.

This is good step towards AI adoption in the entertainment industry, and as ever the porn is leading the charge. [YouPorn via Venture Beat]
