It's not usual for a phone to have a big screen. In fact, it's unusual for them to be small these days, since the general trend has to go more and more tablet for whatever reason. Probably because watching Netflix (or porn) on a 3-inch display is a pretty rubbish experience. But now a new, and totally unverified rumour, reckons the Samsung Galaxy S10 will take things to a new extreme.
According to sources in the "electronics industry" speaking to Korean site The Bell, the Galaxy S10 will come with a 6.66-inch display. That's a whole 0.26-inches bigger than the Note 9. How do these sources know this? It doesn't say, which means they might well have pulled this factoid out of thin air. It's happened before, after all, and until we see some sort of design spec or leaked phone case we'll have to be very sceptical of this. Hell, even pictures of a leaked screen protector is more useful than mere words.
But, now that Apple has gone and launched the iPhone XS Max with a 6.5-inch display, it's more than likely Samsung may respond by increasing the size of its phones. The company has shown it has a short fuse where Apple is concerned, and it's shown it's not above being extremely petty about their rivalry. Turning the issue of screen size into a some kind of dick-measuring contest isn't beyond the realms of possibility.
That said, a phone that big would have to be the S10+, rather than the base model, or something completely different. Rumours have already suggested Samsung may release three S10 models. But for now it's too early to say for sure. It's not an impossibility, but it could easily be total bullshit. We'll just have to wait and see, since this sort of thing isn't likely to calm down anytime soon. [The Bell via TechRadar]
