It's not even 2019 yet and already the Mobile World Congress leaks have started. Today we got a glimpse of what purports to be the ASUS ZenFone 6, apparently due to launch during the annual tech show in Barcelona this February.
The leaks come via Italian tech site HDblog.it, which has got its hands on a whole bundle of images and even a video:
The most important thing to notice here is the notch. Although it's technically a 'teardrop' notch like the Essential Phone's, the ZenFone 6's is off to one side, making it even more divisive than the concept of notches overall.
Which is impressive.
Comments on the video have called it a 'wart' and a 'skin growth', but we're going with the Emo Notch, because it looks like the phone is going through a difficult adolescence which can only be expressed by sweeping its notch low over one eye and quoting My Chemical Romance lyrics.
It's OK, we promise.
The leaks don't tell us a whole lot else about the phone, but we can see a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and two cameras on the back, plus a curved slim-bezel screen as per many current flagships.
However, there's no information on hardware and the leak source does state that "the photos belong to an advanced project prototype and therefore do not correspond to the finished and complete model," so there's a good chance things could change by the time February rolls around.
Until then, emo kids, it's so long and goodnight.
