KFC Is Giving Away Its New Chips on Black Friday

By Holly Brockwell on at

KFC's chips have long been considered the downside of the chain, with flaccid and soggy potato batons daring to sit alongside the glory that is their original-recipe chicken.

That's about to change, with KFC saying it's completely fixed the chips and will now be offering "a thicker, chunkier and tastier spud."

To promote the new chips, KFC has been taking mean comments about the old ones and turning them into ads, including a load of promoted tweets and posters like this one:

Now, the chicken chain has announced that it'll also be doing free fries on Black Friday, so you can go and try the new recipe for yourself.

Here's how:

"To get the free fries on Black Friday, all you need to do is download KFC’s app (if you haven’t already!) and access the offer, which can be redeemed in your local participating restaurant. It’s one free portion per person."

The app is available for Android and iOS, which means free chips for everyone except that guy who's still trying to make Windows Phone happen. Give it up, Dave.

If you manage to get a portion, here's what you've got to look forward to:

"KFC’s new fries are thicker and wider (all the better for dipping with) and the whole spud is used, with the skin left on for a natural appearance and amazing taste.

The added chunkiness also means they keep their heat for longer, so they’re delicious even on the go."

We'll be the judges of that, Colonel. Challenge accepted. [Joe]
