OnePlus has a special McLaren event scheduled for next Tuesday, and we already know that this is where we'll see a special edition version of the OnePlus 6T. But from the looks of things that won't be the only thing on the agenda. A teaser sent out on the OnePlus UK Twitter account suggests we'll also be hearing something about the company's famous fast charging.

The line about warp speed is what caught my eye, because of all the problems OnePlus had trying to copyright 'Dash Charge' in the EU. It was told that it couldn't, because Dash was already used by other companies (Amazon and earbud maker Bragi), which led to OnePlus scrapping that name. Ever since the company has referred to its fast charging tech as 'OnePlus fast charge', with rumours suggesting it would eventually rebrand under the 'Warp Charge' banner. See what I'm getting at?
The fact that the event is also called the 'Salute to Speed' is a bit telling as well. While it was originally assumed this would be something to do with the new phone, because of rumours suggesting the phone would have 10GB of RAM and the fact OnePlus has been using a speed-themed tagline for its last few product launches. But if you;re going to salute speed, you might as well make as many speed-themed announcements as possible, right?
Let's just hope CBS and Paramount don't get offended at the use of the term 'Warp Speed' and the little Star Trek-inspired warp animation. The last thing OnePlus needs is yet another fast charging lawsuit.
