Morrisons Launches "Posh" Salads for Those Still Bravely Swearing Off Sausage Rolls

By Gary Cutlack on at

Supermarket Morrisons, no doubt furious with itself for not having the idea of launching a vegan sausage roll for the 2019 health kickers, has done something vaguely interesting in the austere world of the salad instead. It's dreamed up some new combinations of meats and vegetables, which it's putting in boxes so they may be described as posher that their plastic potted peers.

Given the self-described "posh" tag, there are some bonkers combinations on offer, as we tend to associate posh people with eating weird food. And most salad types have already been done. There is a Prawn and Mango Salad, for example, along with a sushi option that mixes sushi rolls with soft cheese. You know, like what the Queen has.

Prices range from £1.50 to £3.25 and they are indeed included in the usual meal deal selections, so you can take the edge off all that healthy stuff with some crisps, a Peperami, and your daily sugar intake in drink form. The supermarket's announcement compares the prices of its new healthy range the likes of Pret, Starbucks, M&S and Caffe Nero, suggesting it's the cheapest place to go for a nice healthy looking lunch. Just don't reinvest the cash you've saved in scotch eggs. [Morrisons]
