Scammers Resell Greggs' Vegan Sausage Roll on eBay

By Gary Cutlack on at

Yes, it has happened. The Greggs vegan sausage roll has been such a smash that canny customers are buying up stocks to resell online for profit, with several of the thrilling new hot snacks appearing for sale online – and quickly disappearing. The new sausage roll is already nailed on for inclusion in 2019's year-end success story montage.

If you fancy chancing it with unrefrigerated Quorn that's travelled the length of the country in a series of ever-decreasing in size vans, there is indeed one for sale at time of writing, photographed alluringly atop a plastic crate, with an initial asking price of 99p plus £1.86 in postage and packaging. It's worth doing it just to imagine the poor selling having to put a sausage roll in a padded envelope and walk to the post office. It must've seemed so funny at first.

Some completed vegan sausage roll auctions appear to have been placed as jokes, but this one looks very serious, with the seller adding the disclaimer: "The item is one day old and cannot guarantee quality after delivery." [eBay via Metro]
