OnePlus is Giving an Aspiring Mobile Filmmaker £7,500

It seems OnePlus is in competition mode at the moment. Not long after announcing a big contest to fund 5G app ideas, it's unveiled a new scheme for wannabe mobile filmmakers to get their big break.

The competition relates to the mobile filmmaking masterclass OnePlus is running at the moment. The first video sees Italian director, screenwriter and producer Giacomo Mantovani answer questions sent in by the OnePlus fan community:

Next, OnePlus wants budding storytellers to take the tips in the video (and the next ones in the series) and turn them into an amazing film for a chance to win $10,000 (about £7,500).

The first round requires filling in a Google form with your story's title, beginning, middle and ending. You only have to submit 250-300 words, so this isn't the place for your creative writing dissertation.

It's not all about your big idea, though: each video will apparently contain a movie task for you to complete. OnePlus will pick its favourites, and they'll go through to the next round.

OK, so what's in it for you?

The top 10 finalists each get a OnePlus 6T. Third place gets $2000 (about £1500) and a OnePlus device, second place gets $4000 (about £3000) and two OnePlus devices, and the overall winner gets $10,000 (about £7,500), two OnePlus devices and a gimbal (that's one of these fancy things for filming stable footage).

The first round of the competition closes on the 11th of March, which is Monday, so get thinking about the story you want to tell if you fancy entering.
