The winter months are some of the busiest travel times of the year, but they're also the most likely time for an airplane to be delayed. The culprit? Icy runways. Wouldn't it be nice and efficient if we could take some of the excess summer heat, save it, and use it to thaw out airports in the winter? If you've ever wanted a Twitter account that has around 10 followers, a randomly generated username, and is following thousands of random people, today is your lucky day. Earlier today, an anonymous hacker dumped 55000 usernames and passwords onto Pastebin. Normally, this would be a real inconvenience — and a worrisome breach — but all the affected appear to be spambots with randomly generated passwords and email addresses. Read More >>
The Oak Processionary Moth is a nasty little beast. It's native to Europe, but didn't show up in the United Kingdom until 2006, when a few eggs hitched a ride on oak trees transplanted to London. Since then, it's been causing environmental chaos. Now it's threatening to seriously screw up the Summer Olympics. Read More >>
You should never save your place in a book by laying it face down. When it's bookmarked that way, its spine breaks and the binding will never be the same again. But if you're reading next to this beautiful book table, you can probably get away with it. Read More >>
Although part of the beauty of a slice of pizza is that eating it requires neither silverware, nor plates, there are still plenty of people who wouldn't think of eating a meal without the proper tableware. This beautiful floating object isn't quite a kite or balloon, but rather a flying demonstration of a completely new method of moving through the air. As opposed to rotational or linear propulsion, this floating band moves through the air by inversion-driven propulsion. Basically, it turns itself inside out to generate thrust. Read More >>

Last month, Sony announced its intentions to unleash two "smart outlets" on the world that would use NFC and RFID to authenticate users and monitor electricity consumption on a micro level.
