It will probably be awesome, but the psp was kind of disappointing with content. There wasn't anything really that great to get, and if there was I'd prefer to just buy it on the ps2. So for now I'll just leave it.

The clear notifications seems to be buggy. Idk if that coz I have like a million articles open so it's conflicting, but its not letting me clear my notification. Still nice to finally have them!

You should read fountains of paradise by Arthur Clarke it describes the construction of an elevator with Clarkes usual attention to detail. The way he does it is a "light" cable/s that are then used to construct the larger main elevator.

Because it needs to be at geosynchronous orbit and twice as much on top to anchor it. The space elevator needs to last for thousands of years space stations barely last a decade or two usually. The ISS is fast approaching its end soon it will just be the Chinese up there unless we boost it into a higher orbit.

I quote this article: 'the equipment used to measure the strength broke before the glue.'
The equipment is an AFM - Atomic Force Microscope. That didn't break.

See the PhysOrg article quote: ‘But when they pulled on each end, the chemical links holding the proteins to the apparatus broke first.’ As I previously quoted.

You are correct in that the link broke, but the article is still technically incorrect as the AFM did not break. The way it is written is ambiguous and can give the impression that the reason it failed was that the AFM was incapable of pulling the two protein substrates apart.

Also, if it is to act as a glue, the link should be part of the measured strength. The way I think of it is like velcro - the amount the two sides stick together is irrelevant if you can't stick the strips to anything else.

The applications for this are mostly biotech - like biotin/streptavidin interactions to remove certain tagged molecules from solutions etc.

"The apparatus didn’t break, the links from the protein mass to the AFM broke. Not so useful if the glue doesn’t break but falls off the bonded surfaces. Glues need to bind to the surface, or they aren’t glues!"

The way I understand it, the apparatus broke, it was the connecting link that failed. Think of the link as the chain and hook on a set of luggage scales rather than the carry handle on the luggage. I think the article is correct.
