Shooting Challenge #16 - The Winner Is...

In the most recent Gizmodo UK Shooting Challenge I set you the task of capturing park life, using the lyrics to popular beat combo Blur's top 10 hit Parklife as inspiration. Some of you took the opportunity to step away from your screens, go out into the spring sunshine armed with all manner of photographic equipment and snap away. The one rule was that the images must fit the lyrics; which as it turned out, wasn't an easy task. Read More >>

*Reminder Klaxon* Get Your Shots in and Nab a Wonderfully Cultured Poster While You're At It

It's almost the weekend, and rather than vegitating in a Minecraft-constructed park this time around, how about you get yourself and your phone camera down to a park, take some photos and submit them into our shooting challenge? They don't even have to be creepshots. Or good, for that matter. You've only got till Monday at tea-time, so get snappin' folks and win yourself an awesome poster from Dodge & Burn. Read More >>

Shooting Challenge #16 - Park Life

I spent absolutely effing ages thinking of a suitable challenge for this week; I've a little black book with ideas, but I just wasn't 'feeling' any of them. So to the bookshelf I went; flicked through some dusty old tomes and still couldn't make my mind up. So returned to the little black book and saw an entry near the top.. "parklife' and then it hit me. Read More >>

We've Had Some Server Problems, But Hold the Tears, We're Back!

Avid followers of the site probably noticed that although our site was live today, there weren't any posts after 11am this morning, and commenters couldn't log in. Sorry. That was because we had some serious hardware issues with the servers that power the commenting system, not to mention the fairly important bit that lets us stick posts on the site. Thanks to some hard work from our engineers, the site's been moved to green and pleasant servers anew, the hamster-wheels restocked with fresh hamsters, and everything should be working again. Welcome to The Dreamers

It's a common fact that the CEOs usually get all the headlines and limelight. Look at all your favourite companies, and I bet in most cases you can only name the big guys at the top, rather than those toiling behind the scenes, making the products and services we use and love. This week, in association with Dell, we're celebrating those unsung heroes with their very own week...welcome to The Dreamers. Read More >>

Giz UK's February Specs-Sheet: This Is You

Digging into the data this site accumulates makes for fascinating reading; so much so, that we thought we'd start sharing some of these details with you in a monthly specs-sheet. Did you know, for example, that 49 per cent of our mobile users view Giz UK through iPhones? Or that Chrome is by far and away the most popular browser, with 48 per cent? Read More >>

Shooting Challenge #12 - The Winner Is...

While the snowy weather kept many of you entertained this past week, some of you took the challenge baton and ran with it. Boy did you run with it; making the job of picking a winner particularly challenging. On the surface, the brief was simple; take a 'streetscape' self-portrait in the style of celebrated American photographer Lee Friedlander. But the challenge was more than just a picture; I wanted the story behind it. Read More >>

According to You, These Are the Hottest Gadgets of 2013

A couple weeks back we asked you all, under the cunning guise of a giveaway, to sell us your soul and reveal what gadgets you're looking forward to in 2013. We took the numbers, and our team of slave-minion-analysts have been toiling endlessly since then to crunch the numbers and come up with the ultimate question to life, the universe and everything: what gadget do the Giz UK readers really want? And no, the answer's not 42. Read More >>

Which Talentless Commenter Won Themselves a Sony Xperia Go?

In this last of our Crimbo Commenting Challenges, we invited you all -- young, old, sick, lame, witty and banterless, to compete on an unusually fair and level playing field. Rather than relying on some modicum of skill, this challenge just needed you to leave one paltry comment in order to win. So, which lucky waster managed to snag themselves a shiny new phone?
