Fake Apple stores are nothing new. China has a slew of them, all polished and shiny, appearing almost as if they are the genuine article at a glance. Quartz dug up some details on Afghanistan's (fake) Apple store, and though it's a bit more frumpy than most, it still gets the job done. Read More >>
Oh my God, I can hardly believe it. We all woke up this morning to find that the Apple Store is down! Who knows what's coming -- probably absolutely nothing. Unlike other companies, Apple has to take its store offline to change anything, so it's probably just maintenance. But maybe there's some sort of revolutionary new thing coming, or maybe even an apology for making such a botch-up of iOS 6.1? We can only hope. [Apple] Read More >>

We thought the crookedest little Apple Store in Texas was an isolated case. We were wrong: confessions from Apple's retail squads around the country (and world) poured in. Apple has a serious naughty behaviour problem on its hands, and the Evil Geniuses are speaking out. Read More >>

Much like the eclipses of old would rattle the marrow of the ancients, the online Apple Store has traded its wares for a parading gif of away multilingual away messages and left us all existentially afeared. Apple! Apple! Why have you forsaken us?!?!?!?!?Read More >>
I'm totally not suggesting that you do this yourself but if you're so very worried about scratching the iPhone 5 and/or a close follower of scuffgate, or whatever they call it these days, know this: stuff scratches. Especially stuff made from aluminium. The iPhone 5 is no different. Read More >>
iPhone line-sitting has never been a proud endeavor, but at least there was something pure about the diehards and wackos that set up shop outside Apple Stores for days, even weeks ahead of launch. This year? It's just a bunch of sellouts and self-promoters. Read More >>

"The saying goes: Don't fuck with the person that serves your food," a former Apple Genius tells me over IM. "Don't fuck with the person who repairs your computer." He—we'll call him Ronald—spent six years as a member of Apple's Genius squad in a busy Southwestern store. It was a model store: shiny as the best of them, teeming, making money. But in back rooms and in plain sight, the employees ran wild: giving away computers, stealing phones, drunkenly destroying customer property. Ronald saw (and did) it all. Read More >>
