Exactly 109 years ago today, Orville and Wilbur Wright took their first successful flight near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. With Orville as pilot, they were the first to give man the heavier-than-air, self-powered wings that allowed them to soar 120 ft in 12 seconds and tear Icarus a new one in the process. Read More >>

You can't smoke on airplanes. For many reasons—both social and safety-related—that's a great idea, even if it does make some people a little cranky over long flights. So why the hell do they install ashtrays in the toilets? Read More >>

Bring your own device (BOYD) is spreading through industry like wildfire. Instead of being given a company device, people are opting to bring their own phones, tablets and computers. What if you could opt to do that for your flight, but still hook-in with the airline’s systems and even handle the boring admin-stuff like checking-in and ordering food? Read More >>

A few years ago, back when the Constellation Program was still alive, NASA engineers discovered that the Ares I rocket had a crucial flaw, one that could have jeopardised the entire project. The power of flight is an amazing and beautiful thing to get your head around, but apparently we've all been taught wrongly. We know a wing blazes through the air with a shape that causes lower pressure on top of it and higher below it, which affectively sucks the wing upwards. However, it’s the shape of the wing not the time it takes the air to travel around it that produces flight. Read More >>
Wow, just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier, RIM's self-destruction takes another insane turn. This time two drunk executives caused such a ruckus on a plane that they had to be handcuffed with plastic restraints and adhesive tape, which they promptly chewed through and then kicked-off again.
