The tech driving Iron Man 3 isn't, as it typically is, Tony Stark's Iron Man suit. Instead, it's the medical-but-also-real-explodey Extremis. And believe it or not, the physiological nanoparticle science behind it isn't pure science fiction. At least some parts of it are within reach relatively soon. Read More >>
For as advanced and as lifelike as CGI effects have become over the last decade, physical props are still the bedrock of modern special effects—especially in movies about a guy in a robotic suit. Gizmodo recently sat down with two of Iron Man 3's effects masters, Shane Patrick Mahan and Lindsay MacGowan of Legacy Effects, who have worked on the groundbreaking effects of classic films like Terminator 2, Avatar, and Monster Squad, as well as Chris Townsend, the film's Visual Effects Supervisor, to find out how much of Iron Man is really real. The third Iron Man could have been one of two movies. It could have gone on a light and self-referential victory lap of the Ocean’s Thirteen variety. Or it could have decided that after two outings—one great, the other basically good enough—we had enough foundation with the characters to really dig in. Either might have worked, but it tried to be both. And didn't quite pull it off. Read More >>

If you haven't seen Iron Man 3 yet, here's a little clip to put you in the mood. Apparently all that alien bashing, with a God for a sidekick, was all a bit too much for poor Stark. Now he can't sleep. I feel ya Tony, I can't sleep either. But then, I don't have billions of pounds to spend on whatever I want and a suit that you can actually fly like Superman in. Get over it you big baby! Read More >>
Do you know what Extremis is? Unless you're an Iron Man nerd, probably not. But in the Marvel Universe, it's basically the biggest biological breakthrough ever, and a huge part of Iron Man 3. Light spoilers ahead, obviously. Read More >>
Iron Man 3 is out in the UK on general release tomorrow, ahead of the US by some time too I might add, and while most of us haven't had a chance to see it yet, an important question has cropped up: Is it worth seeing Stark's latest epic, or any new movie for that matter, in 3D these days? Has 3D in the cinema died like it has at home? Read More >>

Iron Man 3 is almost here. In fact it would be here today if it weren't for someone kicking the bucket. And with the new movie, Stark obviously gets some new upgrades to the Iron Man arsenal. Here's a brand new featurette from Marvel titled "Advancing the Tech" that takes you through all the new stuff in the movie. Read More >>
The UK premiere of Iron Man 3 is being postponed 24 hours, not because the actors are revolting, or because the cinema's all booked up for Star Trek, but because of Margret Thatcher's funeral. Yep, the Iron Lady gets the last laugh. Read More >>

We've seen a snippet of this clip before in one of the trailers, but now Disney's released the first full clip from Iron Man 3. No wonder Stark's place got blown to smithereens. Everyone knows you just don't give out your home address to madmen and then taunt them to come visit you. Idiot. Read More >>

As April 25th gets closer and closer, Marvel is starting to flood the airwaves with 30 second Iron Man 3 commercials, including this spot which reveals something fans have speculated since the first trailer: Pepper Potts gets to don the Iron Man armour. It doesn't look like Stark has created her her own custom suit—yet—but she looks right at home in his armour. Talk about a power couple. [YouTube via Laughing Squid] Read More >>

If you're the kind of guy with an awesome supersuit that enables you to fly, kick the crap out of bad guys, and blast things into dust, why would you just stand there, pulling up your power trousers? You wouldn't, you'd bust a groove, jumping all over the damn place, while the parts flew to their correct positions, locking onto your iron-clad fists, just like this. Read More >>
