The Samsung Galaxy S smartphones are by far the most popular Android smartphones, and are flagship products for Samsung to show off its latest and greatest OLED display technology. The display on the Galaxy S4 is a major enhancement and improvement over the Galaxy S III — it has a full HD 1920x1080 resolution display with 441ppi. It is also better calibrated, brighter, and bigger. We'll analyse the Galaxy S4 with an in-depth objective series of Lab tests and measurements included below — and size it up next to the competition. Read More >>

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD is being pegged as a do it all device. Video, internet, magazines, games, etc. And of course, there are books. But I'm not sold on LCD screens for hardcore reading. Sure its fine for a magazine article or two, but when it comes time to sit down and read dozens, if not hundreds, of pages in a single sitting, i prefer an ereader every time. It's just easier on the eyes. Am I crazy? Read More >>

In a rather surprising post on her blog, Pixel Qi founder Mary Lou Jepsen claims the company's next-generation transflective LCD technology will not only match the new iPad's display in terms of resolution, but will also match and exceed its contrast, colour saturation, and even viewing angle. Them's fightin' words. Read More >>
Let me preface this by saying: I’m a jaded tech writer. Sadly there aren’t many things that genuinely impress me these days, and that definitely includes current 3D technology. I'm telling you all of this so you'll know how deadly serious I am when I say the following line: this no-name 3D technology has blown me away. It's the 3D that the big players should have given us years ago. No glasses; no flicker; no blurriness; no fixed focal planes forcing your eyes to focus here or there (that’s what causes headaches); just a convincing illusion of 3D without the hassle. Read More >>

LED televisions until now have generally just used an LED power source to light the LCD display. This differs from the Jumbo-trons you see at sports arenas, where each pixel is an individual LED.
