In summer 2012 the news broke that a feature-length Lego movie was actually happening and slated for 2014 release. And it's all true! The first trailer shows Lego figures and indicates a chosen-one-saves-the-world-type plot. Plus a lot of superhero mentions. Read More >>

Remember Small Soldiers? It was a movie where action figures were enhanced with military technology to make them more interactive, but ultimately resulted in them coming to life. Even though it cast both Spinal Tap and actors from The Dirty Dozen as voice talent, the film was remarkably forgettable. To the point where watching this test footage of the film's special effects would have been a more enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Read More >>
There's a very good chance that if you're a fan of Star Trek, you're also a fan of video games. And even if you didn't grow up in a time when 8-bit graphics were mind-blowing, it's still easy to love this condensed re-telling of J.J. Abram's first Star Trek movie as told via the original NES. The first poster for the next Hobbit film has been released in advance of the first trailer (probably coming tomorrow), and and considering it's for a film called Desolation of Smaug, there's not a lot of dragon in it. Probably because of all the desolation crammed in there. Poor Bilbo looks lonely. Read More >>

The premiere of Man of Steel is only a couple of days away, and true to form, the internet has been plastered with everything even mildly related to Krypton's finest. But this infographic—made by the industrious people over at HalloweenCostumes.com—is definitely one of the greatest things we've seen so far. And we don't even like infographics! Read More >>
We love the magic of the movies, that trickery that lets us believe in beautiful robots, time-travelling scientists, wolf men, and flying superheroes. But sometimes it's fun to peek behind the curtain, and see the secrets and candid faces behind our favourite films. Read More >>

Yesterday, the Metro published an article about the penultimate episode of the third season of Game of Thrones, which aired on Monday in the UK. I won't spoil it for you here if you haven't seen it, but apparently a lot of stuff happens. It seems, though, that not everyone watches things live any more, because a legion of irate readers descended on the newspaper, angrily complaining about all the spoilers ruining the show for them. Like, duh. If you have a lot of Iron Man suits, you use those Iron Man suits to blow things up. Especially bad guys. If you don't enjoy doing that, then don't be Iron Man! Go be Peace Corp Man instead. Read More >>
Michael "phwoah" Bay's just dolled out some photos of the redesigned transforming cars from his next instalment in the Transformers saga. While the movies have been a tad crap, the cars in them (before they become robots, obviously) have always looked damn cool. Transformers 4 looks like it's continuing the trend. Check out these beauties. Read More >>
We wholeheartedly approve of this recent trend of perfect 1:1 scale Lego creations. First, it was the Lego X-Wing, which tipped the scales as the largest Lego creation ever assembled. And now it's this smaller — though no less fantastic — full scale Lego T-800 Terminator model built by Martin Latta. Read More >>
Iron Man's HUD has always been one of the cooler details in any sci-fi movie. The way it pops up, the way it shields the face, the way it works — it's fantastically unreal and yet completely believable. And the beauty is in its impressive details. Read More >>
The monstrously giant mechs of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim are controlled by two different people at the same time. The two pilots interact with the computer in Drift Space to control the giant mech and this featurette explains a little about how that works. Read More >>
They hear it through the entire movie, but most theatre goers don't pay close attention to one of the most important supporting players in a film: the soundtrack. It's as important for building tension and excitement as the actors' performances, and the Soundworks Collection took a closer look at what went into the music behind Star Trek Into Darkness. One of the best blink-and-you-miss-it moments from the new Star Trek film is a pan across a whole bunch of models charting the history of flight and space travel, all sat on Admiral Marcus' desk. If you missed them in the carnage of gunfire, explosions and beat downs, here's what they look like up close. (Warning: Extremely mild spoilers). Read More >>
