Amidst the hubbub of the first wave of real people getting their hands on the fabled Google Glass, something's being ignored: the Explorer programme is a tech launch, done as we've never seen before. Thing is, it hasn't been a no-holds-barred success for Google. Read More >>

Streaming is all the rage. No one seems to want to own anything anymore when it comes to media, or is it that no one wants to sell it to you? Either way, streaming is where it's at, whether it's Spotify, Netflix, LoveFilm or Now TV. But there's a big problem with all of them, and it's just reared its ugly head again. Read More >>

Virgin isn't exactly a student of laissez-fairebroadband, instead choosing to actively 'traffic-manage' its customers. It's just rolled out a new system of traffic management, and whilst it leads to some theoretically marginal improvements for consumers, it's the most complicated sonofabitch you're ever gonna see. But more than that, it's a demonstration of how out-of-touch some ISPs really are. Read More >>

Android has become an enormous success in part by appealing to a lot of people who don't prioritise aesthetics. It's no wonder it's been relatively ugly for half a decade. But finally, it's spawned a truly gorgeous object for everyone: the HTC One. Read More >>

I don't know if you heard, but Samsung finally 'unpacked' the Galaxy S4 last night, live in New York, and yup, it was the colossal disappointment I pretty much expected it to be. Now sure, it looks like a decent enough device, and I've no doubt it'll sell like loonytunes, but the event was a clear sign that cracks are forming in Sammy's giant, all-singing all-dancing facade. Android is a mature, stable, and slick operating system. Jelly Bean truly made it a mobile OS to rival all others, banishing lag and unifying the system into something gorgeously usable. But it still sucks to be an Android user, and it truly shouldn't. Here's why. Read More >>

If there was one word to sum up general opinion on the BlackBerry 10 launch, it would be 'meh'. There's a feeling that it's too little, too late. But we've been here before -- back in 2009, with Palm, and it seems that BlackBerry's going the same way. Read More >>
PayPal's one of the truly ubiquitous names of the internet. It's been around since e-commerce first became a Thing, and it's even got its own Mafia. Like every Mafia, though, some of its practices are a bit shady, bordering on the downright nasty. It's time for that to change. Read More >>

Phones shops, in general, are dire; there's no two ways about it. With out-to-get-you customer service, often-crummy technical knowledge, and dodgy upsell-dealings left and right, they're just terrible. How about an actual mobile network brought to you by a phone shop then? No bloody way, mate. Read More >>

I wasn't supposed to be here today. Growing up, I was obsessed with dinosaurs and dreamed of becoming a paleontologist—the thought of sifting through heaps of stone and soil was far more enticing than fighting fires or learning Ninjutsu, my two fallback careers. There used to be a time when Apple didn't make mistakes. When pretty much everything it put out was glitch-free. Not necessarily perfect, of course, but outages, serious bugs, and simple errors weren't anywhere to be seen. Recently, we've had bugs, we've had issues, we've had errors, and we've even gotten an iCloud status board. And as a result, Apple appears to be accepting that it is just an ordinary company now, like any other. Read More >>
