Although this year's Google I/O is all about developers and tools, Google unveiled a lot for the users too. No sign of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, just a 4.3 Jelly Bean update, but everything from search, chat, gaming, Maps, Music, and Google+ got a feature-filled refresh. We even got a bloat-free Samsung Galaxy S4 "Google Edition" to call our own. Here's everything Google fired out into the ether last night. Read More >>

The newest, shiniest Androids you can buy will now run Facebook Home. Whether you actually want to is another question, but Zuckerberg and co are working hard on it. Soon it'll get an app dock and a new Dash Bar to make starting chats quicker, plus it might jump from home screen replacement to home screen layer, which'll be slightly less intrusive. Amazing, I'm sure. [TechCrunch] Read More >>
Samsung threw the kitchen sink at the Galaxy S4, landing it with more software bloat features than you can shake a stick at. Unfortunately, S Voice slows down your home button, making it appear laggy when it totally shouldn't. Unless you actually use it regularly, simply disable that sucker to get back that zippy feel. What's the best thing you can do with your shiny new gadget? Slam it on the floor and watch it bounce in slow motion, of course. It sure makes for some morbid watching. How does the incredibly repairableSamsung Galaxy S4 stand up against the best of the rest? It's not pretty. Read More >>

In the song-and-dance of the Galaxy S4 launch, there was one thing missing: the usual earnest industrial-designer-circlejerk where they try and explain software features using phrases like 'life companion' and 'intuitive' and 'meaningful end-user usage'. Well, that 'wrong' has been put 'right' in this 4-minute video from Samsung, where it rams the intuitiveness down your throat until it's red-raw from all the nature-inspired design and rounded edges. The keenly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4 is just about launched in various parts of the world now, pending suitable amounts of stock arriving in the right places, with early adopters complaining that the so-called 16GB model only lets you actually use 9.5GB from the off, thanks to Samsung's bloated OS customisations that hoover up the storage space. The Samsung Galaxy S smartphones are by far the most popular Android smartphones, and are flagship products for Samsung to show off its latest and greatest OLED display technology. The display on the Galaxy S4 is a major enhancement and improvement over the Galaxy S III — it has a full HD 1920x1080 resolution display with 441ppi. It is also better calibrated, brighter, and bigger. We'll analyse the Galaxy S4 with an in-depth objective series of Lab tests and measurements included below — and size it up next to the competition. Read More >>

Since it arrived last year, the Galaxy S III has been the world's best-selling smartphone that wasn't born in Cupertino. An impressive feat, but one that—along with Samsung's Megatron-sized hype-machine—has made for sky-high expectations for the sequel. Read More >>

Samsung has seemingly spent several small countries' entire GDP on marketing and promoting the impending Galaxy S4, but it all falls flat once you actually get the phone in your hand. It's not a bad phone, it's just... yawn. Read More >>
When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 our hearts sank a little. Compared to the gorgeous, premium looking and feeling HTC One, the plastic-shelled S4 just looked cheap. Yes, there are merits for a polycarbonate construction, but a premium experience isn't one of them. It seems Samsung might have just woken up to that fact. Read More >>
