Sometimes a browser needs to leave a little data on your computer: just a little 5-10KB nibblit, a cookie. HTML5 is a hungrier beast than that which came before it though, and sometimes wants a little more. Maybe 5MB or so. But that's where it should end. Thanks to a wee HTML5 vulnerability, however, this site can and will fill your entire hard drive with cats. Read More >>

Everyone's been making fun of the Surface Pro for being so stingy on hard drive space. The 128GB version of the Surface Pro only has 90GB of free space (originally reported to be 83GB but since boosted). Where the hell did the other 38 gigs go? Well, you could ask the same question to the 128GB version of the MacBook Air. The MBA only has 92GB of free space. What! Read More >>

Oh dear Microsoft. I know you've slapped a microSD slot on your tablets, unlike others, but seriously. Having just 84GB of usable space on a 128GB-rated tablet was bad enough, but reducing a 64GB Surface Pro to just 23GB of usable space is a complete joke. This is a full-blown Windows 8 PC for crying out loud. [The Verge] Read More >>

Mega has been stealing the spotlight when it comes to new cloud storage services, but its actual usability has been sort of crappy since launch. Meanwhile, in Kim Dotcom's gargantuan shadow, BitTorrent is trying its hand at "cloud" storage too, with BitTorrent Sync, and it just might be the Mega that Mega wants to be. Read More >>
Last year at CES Victorinox surprised everyone with a one terabyte flash drive that the company estimated would sell for almost £2,000. It sounded too good to be true, and given there's been no sign of it since last January, it apparently was. LaCie's always had a certain flair for external hard drive design, bringing as much style to its hardware as functionality.
