Yesterday, Chinese OEM Seiki officially priced its 50-inch Ultra HD TV at under a grand, making it the cheapest 4K television in the history of the absurd resolution. Cheaper even, than the last round of super-cheap Chinese 4Ks we saw. The price is so cheap, and the brand-name is so unfamiliar, that you had to wonder if this television was a joke — or worse — a piece of garbage. I'm one of the first people in America to see this beast, and I'll tell you right now: I can't believe my eyes. Read More >>
The £25,000 price tag attached to Sony's 84-inch UltraHD set — the one that's been haunting your dreams since CES — may put that super-sized set out of your financial reach but that doesn't mean everything 4K is prohibitively expensive. In fact, Sony's new 55- and 65-inch sets are downright inexpensive (by comparison) and will be available for pre-order by the end of the month. Read More >>

It’s not too often that I make a tech prediction that actually comes true, although like many people, I prefer to think I’m better at it than I really am. Still, when one does come out as I foretold I am not immune to rubbing my hands with glee and smiling with a cheeky grin, which is exactly what happened with the recent demise of 3D television. Lots of TV manufacturers have aimed for the high design end of the market, but none have really looked any good. Philips is trying to buck that trend with its new DesignLine TV, which looks more like a slab of glass artwork than a screen to watch the likes of Iron Man on. Read More >>

The big story of CES 2013 was, undoubtedly, 4K TVs. But, some reckon that 4K is just a gimmick, nothing more than the latest buzzword that companies bandy around to over-compensate. That's wrong. 4K is here to stay, and in more than just TVs -- but it's not perfect yet. Read More >>
Think about that for a moment. Three TVs every second of every day. I know Samsung makes a lot of TVs, from really great to, well, just plain not. But can you even imagine the mountain of screens that means the Koreans are churning out, and that's just the big stuff. That truly is a colossal number. Read More >>

2013 is shaping up to be a huge year for huge televisions. Almost every major manufacturer is rolling out gigantic sets and packing them with four times the resolution of current TVs. One curved display is even redefining what constitutes a "flat screen" TV, period. Here's what to watch in 2013. Read More >>
Yes, 4K might be all up in our collective grills right now, but apparently some people haven't even gotten on the colour bandwagon yet, let alone HD or UHD. The TV Licensing bods issued 13,202 monochrome licences last year for black and white TVs -- what the hell? Read More >>
LG just made the first curved 3D OLED screen. I just saw a crazy setup of three 55-inch beauties aligned side-by-side into a perfect cinematic curve. The effect is very dramatic. This could be the whole reason 3D and curved OLED exist. Read More >>
Ultra HD is marketing-speak for 4K or 8K resolution TVs. And that's more or less it. You're going to be hearing the term a lot this show though — and throughout the year — so here's a little more information about what exactly that means. Read More >>
We heard this might be on the way, but now we know for sure that Sony actually went to the trouble of producing an Ultra HD television. After suffering technical difficulties during the press conference, we spent some time watching Sony's prototype of what could be the future: A 56-Inch 4K OLED TV. It was incredible. I'm sad I have to wait until tomorrow to see it again. Read More >>
Boom, here we are, the year of 4K. How high? Ultra high. Samsung's promising big things including "expanded" UHDs over 60-inches. But the grandaddy is Samsung's S9 UHD TV, a 110-inch 4K commercial panel, which is the largest ultra-high TV ever. Official details are slim, but when we get more information, we'll update.
