Android Firefox 9.0 Launches With Custom Tablet Layout

By Gary Cutlack on at

There's a new version of Firefox out today for Android users, which includes Mozilla's long-awaited custom visual theme for those using the browser on a big-screened Android tablet.

You actually get two new layouts to play with -- one specifically for tablets when used in horizontal aspect ratio, plus another more traditional tabbed system that kicks in if you're holding your expensive tab in portrait mode. The latter comes with a full-screen option to minimise tabs, giving you more viewing space.

As well as the cosmetic work, Mozilla's also added in a new Action Bar which hides shortcuts to preferences and add-ons, plus back, forward and bookmark buttons. And it supports HTML5 camera integration, too, so developers can write sites and apps that can pull in user photos direct from the device. [Android Market via Mozilla]
