The Post Office's national IT network suffered a couple of outages yesterday, making the simple act of JUST TRYING TO POST SOMETHING even more depressing and long-winded than usual.
A problem with the Post Office's Horizon IT system was to blame. The automation system crashed for two 30 minute periods yesterday afternoon, one of the busiest present-sending days of the year, leading to longer and angrier queues that you'd usually find in mid-December.
The Royal Mail's web site is currently down right now as well, so there may well be another day of misery ahead if you're planning on doing any postal business. [BBC]
