Roku LT and Roku 2 XS Mini-Streamers Priced, Dated and Up For Pre-Order In the UK

By Sam Gibbs on at

We knew that Roku was planning on entering the UK streaming set-top box market, but now we’ve got prices and pre-orders available. Both the Roku LT and the Roku 2 XS will land on our shores at the end of January, sold through

The £50 Roku LT is probably the cheapest way to get things like Netflix streamed to your non-Smart TV without a computer. It’ll pump out 720p HD video; has built-in Wi-Fi, and will get access to more than 40 “channels” Roku’s rolling out in the UK, including Sony’s ad-supported movie streaming service Crackle; Facebook and flickr photos and video, and live on-demand baseball, if that’s your thing.

Stepping up to the £100 Roku 2 XS will give you 1080p full HD video; a USB port for adding media; an ethernet port, and the ability to play games like Angry Birds using a bundled Bluetooth motion-controlled game remote, if that's your thing -- has anyone not smashed up those pigs enough already?

Both are available right now for pre-order from Amazon, so if you’re looking for a cheap way to stream your brand new subscription to Netflix onto your TV, these mini-marvels might be just the ticket. At the very least we’ll finally be able to see what our US cousins have been banging on about for years. [BusinessWire]
