Doom 3's Getting a Reboot and It Looks Crazy Scary

By Sam Gibbs on at

Doom 3 was pretty impressive when it first launched way back in 2004; it certainly scared the hell out of me back then. Now Bethesda and id are rolling in the entire Doom back catalogue, completely re-mastering it with hours of new content, and bringing the frights to the PS3 for the first time with Doom 3 BFG Edition.

The BFG Edition is due out this autumn with re-mastered graphics and lighting optimised for 3D, if you've got a 3D TV or head mounted display that is. It's also been upgraded with 5.1 surround sound to creep you out from the darkness behind you. It'll come packing all mod cons like achievements and a new checkpoint system, which should make things a little smoother on a console too.

Id's including the Resurrection of Evil expansion pack, plus Doom I and II, so you'll get plenty to play in the box. It'll be available for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and should be good for a rainy day fright-fest. Just make sure you play it with the lights on, alright? [CVG]
