Rubbish Mini Games and Trivia Part of the BBC's Antiques Roadshow Companion App

By Gary Cutlack on at

The BBC has announced plans to publicly test its first "companion app" designed to complement a TV show, with ancient wardrobe valuation show Antiques Roadshow the unlikely beneficiary of the first dual-screen tech test.

The public test, which follows two internal tests of Frozen Planet and Secret Fortune second screen apps, will see the BBC include behind-the-scenes information about some antiques featured, coupled with "guess the value" games and more exclusive content from other areas of the BBC.

Which sounds rather pointless, like looking at a rubbish web site full of Flash crap while watching TV. If you're so bored this sounds like a good idea, the Antiques Roadshow companion app will arrive in September, for mobiles, PC, tablets and a simplified version of it will appear through the Red Button.
