Meet the First Raspberry Pi In Space

By Sam Gibbs on at

We've seen all sorts of weird and wonderful Raspberry Pi projects -- the mini marvel seems to bring out the inventor in everyone who handles one -- but this one is literally out of this world. A man called Dave launched is Pi, equipped with a webcam, into space.

We've actually seen a load of these private weather balloon-powered near space flights, capturing the curvature of the Earth in all its wonder. These are apparently the highest ever pictures beamed from an amateur device, so the little board that could did well.

Dave Akerman has the whole thing documented on his blog, and a couple of full flickr sets, so if you're interested in replicating his Sky Pi achievement, then check it out. [Dave Akerman via Raspberry Pi]

Thanks Darrell!
