Samsung's EX2F Compact Camera Has an Impossibly Wide Aperture

By Adrian Covert on at

When Sony announced its RX100 pro compact last month, we ogled over the wide f/1.8 aperture, made possible largely in part by its spacious 1-inch sensor. But Samsung just raised the stakes a little with its EX2F, which somehow manages a f/1.4 aperture combined with only a 1/1.7-inch sensor (that's the same sized sensor as the S100!)

In addition to a 12.4-megapixel CMOS Sensor, the EX2F has a 24mm lens, full manual controls, an ISO range of 80-3200, a 3-inch AMOLED display, RAW support, Wi-Fi, and the ability to shoot 1080p video at 30 FPS. It's even lighter than its predecessor, the EX-1 (294 grams vs 356 grams). Expect to see this premium compact in stores sometime around August for around the £350 mark. [Samsung]
