Why Every Single Gadget Unboxing Is Weird, Creepy and Maybe Even Pervy

By Casey Chan on at

Think of this comic strip as a warning for everybody with a YouTube account who's going to get an iPhone 5 and record a video of them unboxing it. Don't do it. It's weird. It's silly. It's not a thing anymore. And it might be even a little pervy.

I'll admit it, I was once curious to see unboxing videos of gadgets I wanted but now? In 2012? Dude, come on. Nothing screams more forever alone than an unboxing video. There are no more surprises. I'll tell you what's going to be inside the iPhone 5 box: an iPhone 5. A cable to charge the iPhone 5. And that's it. There's no golden ticket inside so you can meet a hologram Steve Jobs or cook with Cook. It's just an iPhone and everyone else will have that same iPhone and no one freaking cares about an unboxing video anymore.*
