Motorola Reneges on Patent Complaint Against Apple

By Leslie Horn on at

Without any explanation, Motorola has withdrawn its complaint with the International Trade Commission that Apple is infringing on seven of its patents. Just a guess, but maybe it has something to do with the $1.05 billion dollars Samsung was recently ordered to pay Apple for copying the designs of the iPhone and iPad.

In a filing, Google (on behalf of Motorola) said a settlement has not been reached—verbal, written, or otherwise. So there isn't a firm answer on why it chose to back off of a fight that started about two years ago. Maybe the Samsung ruling has other companies a little scared. [Reuters]
