Horsemeat Scandal Taints Ikea's Legendary Swedish Meatballs

By Gary Cutlack on at

Another high-profile form of processed meat has been pulled into the horsemeat shame, with Czech authorities claiming to have found traces of horse in pork and beef meatballs destined to feed depressed husbands trapped in the hellish Ikea ecosystem.

The find apparently saw the Czech State Veterinary Administration discover an unspecified amount of horse in a batch of meatballs made in Sweden, with some 760kg of minced meat pulled from Ikea's distribution network before it could reach the furniture chain's local eateries as a result.

Ikea says the meatballs were assembled by a single Swedish supplier, but hasn't elaborated on whether or not these dodgy balls have been distributed to countries other than the Czech Republic. []
