Microsoft Will Have Smaller/Cheaper Windows 8 Tablets This Year

By Gary Cutlack on at

In Microsoft's Q3 financial update last night, the tech giant confirmed rumours that it'll be increasing the range and decreasing the size of Windows 8 tablets, saying it's currently working with OEMs to build smaller devices.

The news comes via Microsoft's chief financial officer Peter Klein, who says the company's usual range of PC-making suppliers are working on "smaller devices, at lower price points, to be available in coming months". Presumably these will be running Windows RT, which has so far failed to generate a huge amount of excitement among tablet users. [Twitter via TNW]
