Ever seen a .ml domain? No, me neither. That's why Mali's going to give them away for free in an attempt to put the country on the map. For the rest of us, it just means a free spot on the internet to call your own. Yourname.ml anyone?
Apparently there are fewer than 50 sites using a .ml domain just now, so from July this year, Mali's going to be doling them out for free to anyone and everyone. You'll have to blag one off Freedom Registry, the company behind the .tk domain on behalf of Tokelau, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue come the summer.
Considering some domain TLDs go for quite a princely sum, and even .co.uk domains are about £10-15 a year, if you're looking for your own tiny place on the internet, a free .ml domain coupled with a Blogger, Tumblr, or something else could be just the ticket. Now, can anyone come up with some good .ml domains? How about Ani.ml or Cam.ml? Lame. [The Guardian]
