UKIP Candidate Photoshopped Himself Into a Hitler Photo

By Chris Mills on at

In a move akin to violently stabbing his political career in the heart and lungs, a UKIP candidate has responded to accusations of being a photoshopping himself into a group shot with Hitler, several times over. But it's fine, because it's a joke. Honest, 'guv.

Allegedly, Tory party candidates were digging through UKIP candidates' Facebook pages, looking for dirt to smear them with. But, because they were finding it too difficult (or, as some kind of ironic attention-grabbing publicity stunt), the UKIP candidate for Worcester, Dick Delingpole, made the above image, before sticking it on Twitter and the Telegraph with the following explainer and the apt caption "Dick, Hitler, Dick, Dick":

It's no secret that I'm currently standing as a Ukip candidate for the forthcoming council elections. What was a secret until now is my Nazi past. As the photo above proves beyond doubt, I was present at one of Hitler's rallies. I was also clearly part of an early cloning experient [sic].

The 'shoppery is, at least, well executed: it looks exactly like how I'd imagine Hitler and his army of middle-aged zombies to be portrayed.

For their part, UKIP says that Delingpole "isn't a Nazi" and simply has a "very deep sense of humour". [Telegraph via Guardian]
