Here's an interesting look into phone launches. We Are Social took the barrage of tweets, blog posts and scuttlebutt across various forums and mined it to see which new phone got the most hate on its launch. Amazingly Apple's iPhone 5 got way more hate than even Samsung's disappointingly plastic Galaxy S4, or the frankly boring, BlackBerry Z10.
The stats compared the respective launches of the iPhone 5, Galaxy S4, BlackBerry Z10, and Nokia Lumia 920, and found that Samsung came off best with the least criticism, and the most positive posts, which is remarkable. It's not that the Galaxy S4 is a bad phone by any stretch of the imagination, it's just the industry reaction was, well, a little lacklustre given the plastic nature of the phone. It seems users don't really care.
The iPhone got hate because of its lightning connector, its scratchability, oh, and Apple Maps. Yeah, the iPhone 5 got the rough end of the dodgy Apple stick last year. It'll be interesting to see what kind of reaction Apple gets in September for its next phone. Something tells me it'll need a hit on its hands to stay the wolves of Wall Street, not that legions of people won't buy it regardless. We used to say that about BlackBerry though, and look where it is now. [Daily Mail]
