Google Patents Glass System for Prescription Glasses Wearers

If Google could completely hide its Google Glass system within a normal pair of prescription glasses so we wouldn't have to worry so much about getting mugged or beaten up, we may be interested. Sadly, it looks like an obvious magnetic clip-on attachment is how it's going to be for prescription glasses wearers.

Google's development people have filed a patent request with US authorities that covers a system it calls a "Wearable Device Assembly With Input and Output Structures," which appears to suggest it's preparing to bust the hardware out of Google Glass and stick it into a little tube and HUD you can attach to a more normal pair of specs.

It doesn't say if the plan is to market something that could clip onto existing glasses or would require a special pair of prescription glasses to attach to, so we're not hugely wiser as to the detail of its plans to widen the appeal of its wearable tech. [USPTO via Laptop]
