Sennheiser's Colourful Cans Probably Sound as Good as They Look

By Jamie Condliffe on at

Sennheiser is usually known for high-end audio quality and rather clunky design. That changed, a little, with its Momentum headphones — but now Sennheiser has smartened up even further with these colourful cans.

The new Momentum over-the-ear headphones are smaller, neater version of the first Momentums — in fact, they pack the same audio innards. But just of much as a draw as the audio quality here is the design.

Sennheiser has clearly done its research here, picking out some of the big colour trends of the moment for its new cans, which are available in pistachio, cream, blue and pink. Trimmed with Alcantara — the material that crops up in high-end sports cars and yachts — they are an absolute pleasure to look at.

They'll be available later this month, at a lower price point than the originals. At only £170, they're one of the few pairs managing to pack high-quality sound into non-boring-black innards.

We've been playing with a pair for a week or so now, and the sound quality lives up to expectations. Bass isn't as overwhelming as you'd find in some other 'lifestyle' headphones, and in return, you get clear and accurate sound. Even more impressive is the fit, which manages to be secure without crushing your ears into little red blobs of hurt. -CM
