If you like your Android vanilla and your phone hardware fast, the next Nexus handset looks like the one to start saving for. We've got no idea what it looks like yet but, going by a slew of leaked benchmark test results from GFXBench, the Nexus 5 will have power to spare.
When running the intensive '2.7 T-Rex HD Offscreen' test, the Nexus 5 managed a superb 23.1 fps score, a figure only matched in the Android stakes by Sony's Xperia Z1 and miles ahead of Samsung's Galaxy S4. Apple's iPhone 5S edged ahead with a score of 24.7 fps, but you might have to deal with motion sickness to go along with its marginally faster speeds.
Still no official word on its release from Google yet, though the latest rumours point towards an October 14th launch event for the Nexus 5. Expect a 5.2-inch screen to feature, while those exemplary benchmark results are thought to come courtesy of a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor backed by 3GB of RAM. [GFXBench via TechRadar]
