"Automated System" Blamed for David Cameron Following a High Class Escort Agency on Twitter

By Gary Cutlack on at

The prime minister appeared to have accidentally added a high class escort agency to his list of followed people on Twitter, although his people suggest it was some sort of accident and should not be considered an official endorsement of "Elite London Escort Agency" Carltons.

The escort agency offers ladies with names such as Gia, Bella and Fabiana, who can be purchased for an hour of intense discussion about the ongoing ramifications of the banking crisis and maybe more for as little as £250 an hour. It isn't exactly big on Twitter. It posted two advertising messages back in 2009 and nothing since, so it's unlikely that it would be appearing on any trending lists of popular people or businesses to follow.

The PM's people say the error came from an "auto-follow process" that was used in the early days of the Number 10 account, which automatically followed people that followed it. So it wasn't Dave shopping for a nice Christmas present for George. [BBC]
