"Go Home" Immigration Vans Lead to Over 1,000 Prank Texts

Proving that, for the most part, we're not only a tolerant and sensitive society but also a bloody good laugh too, it's been revealed that more than two-thirds of the 1,561 text messages sent to the number on the side of the Home Office's ludicrous anti-immigration vans were, in fact, pranks.

Operation Vaken, as the intimidating scheme was called, has since been scrapped, with just 60 "voluntary departures" from illegal immigrants inspired by the vans, and a total of 17 man hours wasted sifting through the bogus tip-offs. [Metro]
