Here's Peter Capaldi's New Doctor Who Costume

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I don't really care about Doctor Who. But even my interest was piqued when it was announced that Peter "Malcolm Tucker" Capaldi was going to be the new Time Lord. And now, we've got a glimpse of the pockets he'll be storing his sonic screwdriver in.

It's all pretty stripped back really considering how many of the Doctors in the past have had a unique prop or two (Matt Smith's fez, Tom Baker's scarf, Colin Baker's eye-melting waistcoat).

Designed by Howard Burden, it features a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining and hardcore Dr Marten boots.

"He's woven the future from the cloth of the past," Capaldi told the BBC. "Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% Rebel Time Lord."

Filming of the new series kicked off earlier this month, hot off the back of the Christmas special, which saw 10.2 million viewers tune in to see the Doctor's role handed over from Matt Smith to Capaldi. [BBC]
