GetTaxi's Black Cab Kiosks Will Never Go On Strike

By Gerald Lynch on at

What with today's tube strike wearing holes into commuter's shoes, GetTaxi's launch of a new self-service cab terminal couldn't be better timed. A simple touchscreen stand, it takes a user's phone number and sends a car direct to the kiosk location. You'll never have to deal with a moody controller that's never heard of your address ever again.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, passengers can pay for a journey direct from their smartphones, meaning no money has to change hands, while the service makes use of London's iconic black cabs rather than the luxury-lottery that is a pre-booked minicab. The W Hotel in Leicester Square and Facebook’s London office are among the first places to be getting the GetTaxi kiosk, though a long waiting list for more of the stands suggests they will be popping up all over London before long.
