Kermit The Frog is Against Scottish Independence, or Perhaps Doesn't Understand It

By Gary Cutlack on at

A misunderstanding in an interview with a fictional character promoting a film for children has thrown up an unlikely candidate to lead the "No" vote on Scottish independence, with whoever has the job of answering questions on behalf of head muppet Kermit The Frog suggesting that Scotland should stay in the UK.

The interview, in street magazine The Big Issue, saw Kermit addressing the controversial independence issue. When asked if Scotland should remain part of the UK, the frog allegedly replied: "Absolutely. We love the UK! We've made several movies here and, of course, this is where we shot The Muppet Show."

The comment was reinterpreted by Lib Dem MP Danny Alexander, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, who, quite amusingly for someone in government, responded on Twitter: "I am reliably informed that Beaker agrees with @KermitOfficial -- Scotland is #BetterTogether in the #UK." [UsVsTh3m]
