McLaren's New Concept is Basically Batman's Dream Car

By Tom Pritchard on at

Now that the New York and Beijing Motor Shows are over, we're in the period where car manufacturers try and find new and interesting ways to stay in the headlines. Showing off shiny customised concept cars is one way of doing just that, so without further ado I give you the blacker-than-black McLaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept.

The deep black colour comes from McLaren's in-house paint called Agrigan Black, which has a very cool feature -- it changes colour in direct sunlight to contrast the satin-finished carbon fibre that makes up the concept. In fact this thing is almost exclusively made of carbon fibre, with the seats, switchgear, bezels, and the exterior all made out of the stuff. Under the hood is a twin-turbo, 3.8 litre 641hp V8 engine, which also comes with satin black engine covers. Sadly, they are not made from carbon fibre.

Blimey the amount of black components on this car would make it ideal for Batman.

Unfortunately, the car is a "one-off design study" and there are currently no plans to put it into mass production. But if you're lucky enough to to own a McLaren 650S or 12C, you can get the upgraded MSo aesthetic treatment without having to trade your car in. The whole lot will cost you a mere £12,365. Sounds like a bargain to me. [Gizmag]
