BBC Testing Ultra-High Definition Broadcasts With Three World Cup Matches

The World Cup -- the common man's excuse to get a new telly -- is being used by the BBC to test UHD broadcasts, with three matches set to be broadcast at 4K resolution via both digital terrestrial TV and broadband streams. Sadly it's a closed trial only for the eyes of BBC R&D and select electronics suppliers, who will use it as a base to form strategies to deliver our UHD future. [BBC]
